Feed Handlers & Ticker Plants: The Architecture

The Architecture of TPS+Plus

The InfoDyne TPS+Plus architecture is actually very simple. This simplicity is the key to its performance, flexibility, and low latency. TPS+Plus middleware supports both TCP and/or multicast distribution architectures.

TPS+Plus system configurations can use IT Object Distributors (ITOD) to provide interactive, scalable and reliable connectivity among system components. An application, regardless of whether it’s providing a data service, retrieving data, or both, will connect to a single ITOD using the IT Class Library. A single ITOD can support many applications and there can be many ITODs in a system. The ITODs dynamically discover each other and communicate with one another via highly efficient and reliable TCP connections. The ITODs manage services, route requests and responses, and provide load balancing, high fan-out, fail-over, and recovery

The TPS+Plus distribution tier can also be implemented as a flat multicast architecture, with IT Exchange Servers (ITES) directly publishing to reliable multicast channels. These multicast channels can be configurable and are load balanced to allow for partitioned distribution of multicast subjects. InfoDyne provides its own multicast capability or can integrate natively with several vendor middleware products based on customer requirements.

The TPS+Plus system is also designed for high availability; no single component failure in TPS+Plus can cause an interruption in service, and a system can be configured such that multiple component failures will also not cause interruptions of service. The system can be configured with redundant components at any/all levels; when an individual component fails, the system will automatically detect the failure and shift all services to the remaining components.
