TPS+Plus Solution Allows Clients To Affordably Keep Pace With Soaring OPRA Message Rates
Chicago (January 19, 2005) – InfoDyne Corporation, a leading provider of direct exchange feed ticker plant technology that is essential to programmatic trading, today announced a new scaling capability within its TPS+Plus ticker plant technology to accommodate soaring message rates.
With OPRA mandating support for 120,000 messages per second this year, information vendors, exchanges, securities traders and other recipients of the direct OPRA feed are faced with the economic and technical challenges of maintaining high throughput, high quality, and low latency solutions. Users of InfoDyne’s TPS+Plus routinely rely on affordable multi-processor Intel and Sun servers running either Linux or Solaris. While the optimized multi-threaded design of TPS+Plus takes full advantage of multi-processor servers, the expected increases in OPRA message rates may ultimately exceed the scalability and performance of even the highest performing platforms.
The solution available today allows users of InfoDyne’s TPS+Plus ticker plant technology to distribute processing for individual feeds horizontally across any number of physical server devices while preserving complete system functionality. Each server instance will process a portion of a given feed, like OPRA, and TPS+Plus Middleware will ensure that user applications continue to see each feed as a single, unified, service on the system without introducing any additional message hops.
“In anticipation of expanding OPRA message rates, we’re raising the bar now to insure that TPS+Plus can be scaled economically to provide the same easy access and high performance our clients have come to rely on,” said Guy Tagliavia, President of InfoDyne. “Customers should not have to replace their hardware, re-write their applications, or compromise on data quality because OPRA message rates are going through the roof. It’s always cheaper to just add another box,” added Tagliavia.
“More than simple load-balancing which most vendor platforms support, this partitioned service allows us to assign OPRA feed processing to an array of servers as necessary to keep pace with the growing message rates,” said Jeff Wootton, SVP of Products and Services for InfoDyne. “TPS+Plus Middleware intelligently resolves requests on behalf of client applications and we don’t lose anything relative to quality of service. Most importantly, there is zero added latency. We also retain our data blending, data models, option grids, chaining, underlying references and other capabilities that were easy to do within a single server instance, but are not so easy when you start to spread the problem across multiple machines,” added Wootton.
The new capability is not limited to OPRA, and may be deployed for any data feed service installed on InfoDyne’s TPS+Plus system. Together with InfoDyne’s Enterprise Gateway Architecture, any TPS+Plus service can be provisioned on customer’s existing market data systems. The system also supports the blending of real-time market data with fundamental, static, reference, and other sources of value-added data. TPS+Plus is available for the Linux, Microsoft® XP, and Sun® Solaris operating system.
