IT Exchange Server (ITES)

The IT Exchange Server (ITES) is based on the ITCL and is a fully configurable market data server that receives, normalizes, caches, manages, distributes, and integrates real-time market data sourced directly from exchanges, ECNs, and consolidated feeds. The ITES provides access to quote, trade, and other value-added data for many national and international feeds, including:

  • The national Listed and OTC stocks and options sourced from the direct SIAC, OPRA, and NASDAQ datafeeds.
  • The commodity and futures exchanges, including CBOT, CME, NYBOT, NYNEX, COMEX, and others.
  • ECN data feeds (including depth of book) including Archipelago, Nasdaq ITCH, NYSE OpenBook, Direct Edge, Pink Sheets, and more.
  • An expanding number of international feeds including the Canadian TSX markets, European exchanges, and Asian markets.
  • Consolidated vendor feeds including Reuters RDF, Bloomberg MDS (B-Pipe), Telekurs (MDFStream), IDC (PlusFeed), and Thomson (ILX) feeds.
The ITES has been specifically designed to accommodate rapid integration of additional data sources, with 90% of the ITES platform functionality shared across different data sources. The following is a brief list that highlights some of the platform functionality offered by the ITES.
  • Multi-threaded implementation guaranteeing full throughput capacity.
  • Normalization of the incoming data to provide consistent object interfaces throughout the enterprise.
  • Automated data management features including consolidated records, participant records, Level 2 market maker records, option chaining, option expiration, depth of book, intra/inter-day value-added field processing, static/fundamental data integration, and more.
  • Support for publish/subscribe distribution by name, wild-card, and queries.
  • Support for contribution of value-added data by client applications.
  • Multi-home distribution capability to Middleware2, Triarch, TIB, and/or RMDS.
  • Data integration support for legacy systems include symbology, option chain records, forms, fid assignments, field values, and message formats.
  • Support for redundancy, load-balancing, fault detection, failover, and recovery.
  • Single point of management, monitoring, and control via the IT Administrative Desktop and/or SNMP MIBs and Traps.
  • Available for Linux, Solaris, and Windows operating systems.

The ITES is provided in the form of an executable and a set of configuration files. The ITES is multi-threaded and performs best on a multi-processor machine architecture. There are no hard limits imposed by the ITES regarding the number of messages, objects, subscriptions, or other sizing parameters handled by a given instance of an ITES, however these variables are all configurable. A single instance of an ITES is capable of supporting one type of feed and there can be many instances configured the same as necessary for redundancy, load-balancing, and failover.
